Welcome to EITA-New Media and Bio 2014
The 2014 EITA Conference on New Media and Biomedical Research
(EITA-New Media and Bio 2014)
"Recent Advances in New Media and Biomedical Research"
The Whitaker Building (56) and the Green Building (54)
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Cambridge, MA, U.S.A.
Thursday-Friday, July 31 - August 1, 2014
(DRAFT)
Invitation
The rise of new media has increased communication between people all over the world and the Internet. It has allowed people to express themselves through (at least for now) Internet, blogs, websites, computer multimedia, pictures, and other user-generated media. Cultural heritage shapes relationships with our neighbors and with other communities around the world. The use of new media in the service of cultural heritage is known as virtual heritage. Virtual heritage is a mix of cultural heritage with information and communication technologies (ICT). We believe that respect for, and celebration of, our diverse cultural heritage promotes human understanding and economic development in an increasingly interdependent world.
In the 21st century, groundbreaking research and discovery in the
Biomedical Research are more interdisciplinary than ever. Biomedical
Science and Engineering Research represents the research activities in
the areas of Medicine, Public Health, Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Chemistry,
Physics, Engineering, New Materials, Information and Communication
Technology (ICT), and Health-related topics. These scientists work to
understand the biological principles that govern the function of the
human body, to discover the mechanisms of disease, and to find
innovative ways to treat or cure disease by developing advanced
diagnostic tools or new therapeutic strategies. The increased longevity
of humans over the past century can be significantly attributed to
advances resulting from Biomedical Sciences Research.
The main
purpose of the EITA-New Media and Bio 2014 conference is to connect the dots to form a
big picture for vision and talents. This conference, bringing together a
global network of today's best thinkers, visionaries and thought
leaders, serves as a multi-disciplinary forum for the discussion and
exchange of information on the research, development, and applications
on all topics related to New Media, Biomedical Science and Engineering.
We are pleased to invite you to attend the EITA-New Media and Bio 2014 and submit proposals (invited talks only) for papers, panels, demonstrations, and SIG discussions. The Conference Review Policy requires that each proposal will be peer-reviewed by for inclusion in the conference program, and CD-ROM proceedings.
Workshops
The EITA-New Media and Bio 2014 conference consists of three parallel workshops (W1, W2, W3) and three parallel young investigators workshops (YA, YB, YC):
- Workshop 1 and A (W1 and YA): Broadband, Wireless Computing, Communication and Applications, New Media and Multimedia Systems, Web, Cloud Computing and Data Mining
 - Workshop 2 and B (W2 and YB): Machine Learning and Big Data, Biostatistics, In Silico Research and Biomedical Informatics
 - Workshop 3 and C (W3 and YC): Medicine and Life Sciences, Biomaterials, Biomedical Sciences and Engineering

Proceedings
All paper submissions (invited talks only) must be written in English and will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings (CD-ROM formats) as well as on the EITA-New Media and Bio 2014 website. You may download the Proceedings through the Internet. These proceedings serve as major sources in the global high-tech community, reflecting the current state of the art in the disciplines.
