- Overview

Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of how people interact in group settings. OB is fundamental to corporate human resources and covers elements such as employee retention, engagement, training, and culture. This field of study includes areas of research dedicated to improving job performance, increasing job satisfaction, promoting innovation, and encouraging leadership.

The Hawthorne Effect is the most famous organizational behavior study, which describes how test subjects' behavior may change when they know they are being observed.

OB is a subset of organizational theory that studies more holistic ways to structure a company and manage its resources.
