Where to meet

The EITC-YIC 2011 workshops will be held at the rooms: (MD G115, MD G119, MD G125, MD G135) on Thursday, August 18, 2011 and at the rooms (MD G115) on Friday, August 19, 2011, Maxwell Dworkin Building SEAS, Harvard University (Directions). 


Building Abbreviations and Addresses (Harvard University):

Walking from Harvard Square to the Maxwell Dworkin Building, SEAS:

Enter and go through Harvard Yard. Exit in front of Science Center and proceed on Oxford Street. Maxwell Dworkin is the modern building on your left with the sharp angle. It is about a 10-minute walk.

How to register

The EITC-YIC 2011 at Harvard University is a free event, no charge. Registration for the event is now open.

Most Harvard locations are within a few minutes walk from the center of Harvard Square. Harvard University Campus Map indicates the most common destinations,


Directions From Logan Airport to Harvard Square

If you are flying into Boston's Logan Airport, use the subway or take a taxi from the airport to Harvard Square, Cambridge.


By Subway (the "T")

Take the SILVER Line bus to the South Station (Bus/Train station). Switch to the RED LINE subway outbound (toward ALEWIFE), go six stops and get off at HARVARD. The subway ride from Logan Airport takes approximately 45 minutes. The fare is $2.00.

By taxi

The ride to Harvard Square takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs about $40.


From South Station (Bus/Train Station)

By subway

Take the RED LINE subway toward ALEWIFE from the South Station six stops to HARVARD SQUARE.


Walking from the "T"

Take the Church Street exit and turn right at the top of the stairs. Follow one block to Garden Street and turn left. Follow Garden Street and enter Radcliffe Yard through the 2nd entrance (before the second light on Garden Street). Follow the signs within Radcliffe Yard to the Admissions Visitor Center.

By Car

Due to traffic patterns in and around Harvard Square please allow an extra 20-30 minutes of travel time.


From the West (I90 - Massachusetts Turnpike)

Take Exit 18 (Cambridge/Allston). Bear right after the toll booth at the end of the exit ramp. At the third set of lights (over the bridge), turn left onto Memorial Drive. After the second set of lights, turn right onto JFK Street. Go through two sets of lights. At the third set of lights, turn left onto Brattle Street (Cardullo's is straight ahead), then bear right at the crosswalk, which is a continuation of Brattle Street. Radcliffe Yard will be on your right after you pass the Graduate School of Education on your right and the American Repertory Theatre on your left. The Admissions Visitor Center is located within Radcliffe Yard.



Parking is difficult, so please allow an extra 30-40 minutes for find commercial lots and garages in the area, then walk to the visitor center at 5 James Street. Should you decide to take your chances and park at the meters (which we don't encourage), please bring a roll of quarters with you, as we don't have a petty cash in the office and the meters won't take smaller coins or credit cards.

On-street parking is scarce in Cambridge, but there are several public parking lots and garages. There is also parking available at the Harvard garages on Oxford Street and Broadway on weekdays. You may purchase a pass online and it costs $11.00 per day. You will need a printer to complete this transaction and when prompted, select: Department: Admin. & Financial Aid/Byerly Department Code: 3003. You can also buy parking passes at 46 Blackstone Street, Cambridge, MA.

Where to Stay

Accommodations in the Boston area can be pricey and very hard to find. To help you plan your visit Harvard University and MIT, we have prepared the following list of accommodations. Please reserve a place BEFORE arriving. Please note that some hotels are easily accessible by the MBTA subway system.


The Conference Hotel - Sheraton Command Hotel:

The conference hotels of the EITC-YIC 2011 are Sheraton Commander Hotel (Map & Directions)  and <the 2nd conference hotel - TBD> with following special rates for a standard room



Notes for the Sheraton Commander Hotel:

  • The reservation code is: “EITA-YIC 2011”.  You can call in and quote this code to enjoy the discount - $239/night.
  • The Sheraton Commander Hotel has set up a website for EITA-YIC 2011 for the hotel reservations.
  • Discounted group rates are available on a first come, first served basis. Limited rooms are available at this rate so please book early.
  • The Sheraton Commander is within walking distance to Harvard Campus, located steps from Radcliffe.
  • Group rate available until July 8, 2011. Subject to Availability.
