A Young Researcher and Entrepreneur is typically defined as an early-career scholar (within 10 years of a qualifying university degree, pre-doctorate) who translates scientific findings into commercial ventures. They bridge academia and industry by securing patents, founding startups, and commercializing STEM innovations.
1. Defining the "Researcher":
- Timeframe: Often falls under the "Early Career Researcher" (ECR) category, usually evaluated in the first 10 years (or less) of active full-time research.
- Education: Holds an eligible university degree giving them access to doctoral studies, but has not yet obtained a doctoral degree (e.g., a Ph.D.).
- Activity: Conducts active, continuous basic, applied, theoretical, or experimental research.
2. Defining the "Entrepreneur":
- Commercialization: Transforms specialized, often STEM-related knowledge or university-led intellectual property into marketable services or physical products.
- Venture Creation: Takes on the risks of founding or co-founding startups, spin-outs, or scale-ups.
- Advisory & Tech Transfer: Sits on scientific advisory boards or actively engages in technology transfer.

EITA-YIC Management Council (EITA-YIC MC) is the volunteer leadership and decision-making body for the EITA-YIC virtual organization.
They are responsible for guiding the group's overall vision, ensuring strict financial and legal accountability, managing organizational resources, and properly supporting staff and volunteers to achieve the organization's goals.

- Keep it Legal: Ensures complete compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory frameworks, proactively seeking guidance when faced with uncertainty.
- Financial Management: Guarantees that funds, assets, and resources are managed, used, and accounted for appropriately and ethically.
- Staff & Volunteers: Establishes and maintains clear policies and procedures so that both paid staff and volunteers are well-supported, effectively managed, and properly equipped to do their work.
